Just a month away from the release of her new album (and first for 4AD) Lustre, Irish artist and beloved NTS radio host Maria Somerville provides a moment of serenity on 'Stonefly'. Doused in thick, ethereal textures, coined by shoegaze greats Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, there's a decidedly lighter touch to Somerville's work. More whimsical and carefree in its approach, listening to 'Stonefly' feels like trying to open your eyes to direct sunlight: hazy, abstract but ultimately warm. Accompanied by a fittingly abstract video, directed by Daniel Swan, our anticipation for the arrival of Lustre on the 25th of April is reaching a fever pitch.
